Following the recent release of the 4th Edition of the AIRAH DA09 Application Manual, CAMEL⁺ has now been updated to incorporate changes affecting load calculations:
- Heat gain from people – updated load table adopted. Refer to DA09 4th Ed Section 8.3 Table 8.1 for details. Note that the DA09 4th Ed table only has data for heat gain from people at 24°C and 27°C. CAMEL⁺ will interpolate between these values, but if your room temperature is lower than 24°C or higher than 27°C, CAMEL⁺ will use the people heat gain data for 24°C or 27°C respectively.
- Lighting loads – the ‘Storage Load Factors for Heat Gain from Lights’ table (DA09 3rd Ed Table 11) has been removed from the DA09 4th Edition. As such, selection of Light Type is no longer required, and all lighting loads are assumed to be instantaneous.
- A new option has been provided to use the ASHRAE Daily Range Correction Factors when setting up a User Defined Monthly location. This will require the additional input of the WB Daily Range in the design conditions table. Refer to DA09 4th Ed Section 3.7 Table 3.1 for details.
Please note that for items 1 and 2 above, CAMEL⁺ will now default to using the DA09 4th edition tables/method for any new projects created. No changes have been made to existing projects. In either case, users can now specify which method to use via the new tick boxes on the ‘Internal’ input screen in CAMEL⁺.
